I'm On Imerge Magazine - July Issue

So a couple of months ago I was contacted by the Editor in Chief of IMerge Magazine.  IMerge Magazine is a monthly online magazine writing about success stories, featuring ordinary people doing extraordinary things, and much more.

My New GOAL - "13 And Counting"

Thirteen 5K's so far
I have officially ran  thirteen 5K's as of June 19, 2014.  As many of you might know the number "13" is my lucky number.  I was born on the 13th, I lost 113 pounds, and so many other things has happened to me with the number 13.

So I decided to declared a new goal to reach the day I did my 13th 5K.

NYC Police Chase - My 13th 5K

On June 19, 2014, I ran the NYC 5K Police Chase in Flushing Meadows Park, Queens.

It was a beautiful day, excellent weather for a run.  I was running with my wonderful nephew Anthony which makes it exciting for me.

A couple of years ago, in 2011 to be exact,  my husband and I had attempted to walk this race.  At the time we were  not conditioned to run it.  We were the only ones walking it along with an elderly gentleman.

NYPD Memorial Run - My 12th 5K Race

On Sunday, May 18, 2014, I ran the 13th NYPD Memorial 5K race.  This race is run in honor of all NYPD Officers who have died in the line of duty. There are more than 800 NYPD heroes whose names have been etched into the granite New York City Police Memorial Wall in Battery Park City.

For the past few years my friend Maria and I been wanting to run this race, but life keeps getting in the way.  This year Maria had a previous engagement, but I was determined to do it since it was the 13th annual one (13 is my lucky number).

RMHA Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies - My Eleventh 5K

At Van Cortland Park
On April 27th, 2014, I ran my official eleventh 5K.  It was a gorgeous day in the neighborhood and  great weather for a run.

The Riverdale Mental Health Association 5K was originally scheduled for March 9, 2014, but due to the horrible winter we had this year, the race was cancelled and rescheduled.

We were a little disappointed because last year's race included the the trails at Van Cortland Park, but they changed the route this year.  The trails are awesome and we were looking forward to running them -- but anyway we ran the flats.

World Spinning® Sports Conference 2014

So most of you know that I love Spinning® and that I became a Certified Spinning® Instructor back in November of 2013.  Usually the Spinning® world comes together every year at the end of May at the Intercontinental Hotel in Miami, Florida.

The World Spinning® Sports Conditioning Conference is 3 full days filled with more than 300 mind-blowing, heart-pumping sessions including Spinning®, Zumba®, Peak Pilates®, Pilatesstick®, Bodyblade®, Resist-A-Ball®, Xtend Barre®, CrossCore®, Ugi®, The Groove Method, SPINpower™, and KettleBell Concepts™. This is the place to be if you love fitness!

Back in February 2014 I started seeing the advertising for the conference, and being a newbie at this, I really considered on attending to experience this awesome event.  After weighing all possibilities I decided to attend since I was going with Ketsy (my trainer) who had attended the conference before, and our friend who is also a personal trainer, Isabel.

One Of My Favorite Workout

The above is one of my favorite workouts. Working out the entire body -
Repeat #1 - #6 four times and then repeat #7 - #12 four times.
It is about a 45 minutes workout burning from 300 - 400 calories.

JFK Runway Run - My Official Tenth 5K

Within the crow of over 1,100 participants
On Sunday, April 6, 2014, I officially did my tenth 5K - "The JFK Runway Run".

By now you might think that after my 10th race I  should be a "PRO" at this, and even though that might be the case, I must confess this run was different for me for many unexpected reasons.

Running on a big free space such as a JFK runway is amazing.  You are able to connect to your most inner thoughts.  Even though there were over 1,100 people you feel like you are there alone with your thoughts which bring many emotions to the surface.

Sweaty Bands®: Product Review

I am sure that many of you will identify with sweating profusely when you are working out and your hair coming into your face even though it is up.

I have tried several head bands, but just recently I came across a band that caught my eye. Even their name is catchy--- Sweaty Bands®.  They are colorful with many beautiful patterns and different designs.  Sweaty Bands® come in so many different colors that it is hard just to choose one alone.

The Sweaty Bands® can be hand washed and drip dried.  You can use it over and over again. They come in different sizes (wide & thin).

M M Manhattan Hot Chocolate - My Ninth 5K Race

M-M-Mahattan Hot Chocolate 5K
This post is a little late, but I sometimes get so overwhelmed with everything on my plate.  One of these day I will be more structured.  Yeah! Right. :)

On February 1, 2014 I did my ninth official 5K-- "M-M-Manhattan Hot Chocolate 5K" at Riverside Park in NY.  I have done this exact race last year earning me the award of first place for females in my age group.

This years winter has been quite brutal so it has been hard for me to run - I'm not using the weather as an excuse because my ultimate goal is to always finish my races no matter what.

Best Ways to Kick Start Your Day

Best Ways to Kick Start Your Day
Oftentimes, the morning can be the hardest part of our day. Waking up feeling sluggish and unable to concentrate can decrease productivity and can make even the simplest of daily tasks seem difficult. While mornings are difficult for many people, there are several things you can do to kick start your day and ensure you have plenty of energy, even in the morning!

Spining® Instructor Certification

I never thought the day will come that I can say "I'm a Certified Spinning® Instructor", but I can because I am.

A couple of months ago, for my birthday, my brother surprised me by registering me to go to take the workshop and assessment test to become a Certified Spinning® Instructor. I couldn't believe it!! I thought it was a crazy idea - but that's just like him.

He thought that it was time for me to take a step forward. It seems that many felt the same way except me.  Ketsy, my Master Spin® Instructor was elated that I was doing this and reassured me that I was not only ready but that I shouldn't hesitate to do it.

A Typical Day for Me - Food & Exercise

Some of you have asked what is a typical day for me regarding food and exercise. So I decided to run a typical day for you and show you with pictures.  Don't expect excitement or divulge a big secret because there is none - LOL

I'm not a morning person so I don't wake up too early unless I have a race or an appointment.  I get up about 8:00am and my long day begins.

I'm an Ambassador x's 3

Good news just keeps on coming.  Sometimes it makes my head spins (in a good way).  Last week I got two fantastic e-mails about being chosen an Ambassador for Girls Gone Sporty and I'm Fit Possible.

Ambassador - one of the meanings in the Webster dictionary for this word is:  An authorized messenger or representative. I feel honored to represent, and be a part of what these two communities stand for.
